Spent the night here last night (late July 2017) and was blown away by the scenery! Had seen previous reviews about a rude host but decided to give it a try anyways..Glad we did! The hosts said they had just arrived this week to spend the rest of the season there. They were very warm and welcoming, could not have asked for a better experience.
The campgoung was ok, but I was bitten by the temporary campground host's guard dog when I went to pay the bill! It was on a chain, but was faster than I was.
Amazing spot. Drive south from Telluride about 15 minutes and you're there. Views of Mt. Wilson on the way down are spectacular. We nabbed the last spot on a Saturday afternoon and stayed 2 nights. Had excellent mountain peak views from site #13. You can hear the road a little but mostly the stream running. Private site since you have to walk a minute to get to it. Picnic table and solid metal fire pit with a grate to cook on. Showers were clutch (and clean!). $24 a night well spent.
We had a beautiful campsite about 100 feet from the river. Ours didn't have water or electric, but there are a couple that do have electricity. There was no running water at the dump station when we were there. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Easy access to Telluride.
We stopped in July 2017 and the RUDEST host was working!!
